Hands of Christ

Due to COVID-19, we will not hold an in-person distribution again this year at YPPC. Instead, we will do a similar version of what we did in the fall of 2020. This included providing book bags, socks, underwear and school supplies to our local Hanahan schools, plus clothing for our local Headstart program. We also assisted HOC with distributing pre-packed bags of clothing and supplies from Westminster Presbyterian to various Charleston County schools.

Changes & Additions

*Each HOC Partner Church will choose the schools they wish to help this year. Schools in Berkeley County, not just Hanahan and Moncks Corner, will have the opportunity to request school clothing (pants and shirts) for up to 60 children. Volunteers will pack the clothing at Westminster and HOC Partner Churches will pick up and deliver bags to their selected schools. (We will collect school supplies and socks and underwear to add to the bags.)

*Partner Churches will make contact with their selected schools and offer to serve as a resource throughout the school year. If the school has a specific need, the churches will try to help. For example, if there’s a need for winter coats, belts, books for kindergartners, etc., the school will let the church know.

Food Pantry

Thanks to your many donations, our pantry is well-stocked. We received 25 boxes of oatmeal in March and 35 bags of dried beans in April. In addition, many of you have kept us supplied with staples such as cereal, rice, corn meal, and lots of green beans! Also, thanks to our pantry helpers Anne Gregg, Liam & Ellie Latcham, Kristi Lynch, Trish Rogers, Doug Tillman, Martha Trussell and Kim West.

In March, the Hanahan High School Beta Club held a Spring Food Drive for the pantry and collected 75 food items. We’re very grateful to our congregation and the community for their continued support of our efforts to feed those in need in our community.
