Administrative Assistant

Primary Functions:  Performs general office duties for the Church.  Provides administrative support to the Pastor and assistance to others, as needed.    

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office for data management and desktop publishing
  • Proficient with computers, copy machines, and other office equipment
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality 

Position Duties:

  • Weekly Bulletins – including, but not limited to preparing worship bulletin and bulletin insert, sending them electronically to those who need it, and printing the worship bulletins.
  • Support of Pastor and leadership ministries
  • Communications – including, but not limited to weekly notes to visitors, acknowledging Memorial Gifts to the deceased family and preparing thank you notes to donors for each, church-wide mailings, answering and recording incoming calls, distributing mail, administrator of Instant Church Directory, sending out prayer requests via Constant Contact, and preparing and sending reminders to the Session and other committees as needed.
  • Record keeping – including but not limited to maintaining church filing system, databases, registers, attendance, keeping a record of moneys given to different Outreach missions, maintaining the church calendar, and preparing the annual Statistical Report using data maintained during the year.
  • Purchase and procuring supplies
  • Member Assistance – including but not limited to providing phone numbers and other information to members as requested and assisting members with things they may need.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor

Accountability:  Accountable to the Pastor and Session.  An annual performance evaluation will be prepared and discussed with the incumbent.

Spiritual Requirements:  It is essential that the Administrative Assistant profess a commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of this church.

Work Schedule:  This is a part-time position working approximately 15 hours per week in January and 12 hours per week for the remainder of the year.  Office hours are Monday thru Thursday from 9-12.

Job Classification:  Non-exempt part-time position.

Other:  Pay is made two times per month normally on the first and the fifteenth.
