From the Pastor
Dear Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church Family,
Hymns have always had a special place in my heart. While my voice may never earn me a seat in the choir, I do enjoy making a joyful noise and singing praise to God. A well-written hymn will lift our spirits, unite us in worship, and strengthen our faith as we sing God’s truth woven into its lyrics.
This October, we will use the hymn “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service” to guide us in worship as we consider the ways that God is calling each of us to give our time, talents, and resources to the ministries of Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church. Each week, we will highlight a different part of our church’s mission statement and look to God’s Word for guidance on how God is calling us to glorify God, grow disciples, and meet human needs together as partners in Christ’s service. Then, on October 31, we will have a special All Saints Day Celebration where we will lift the names of the saints who have gone before us and honor the life, ministry, and legacy of Dr. Chip Summers.
– October 3 – Called as Partners in Christ’s Service to Glorify God (World Communion Sunday)
– October 10 – Called as Partners in Christ’s Service to Grow Disciples
– October 17 – Called as Partners in Christ’s Service to Meet Human Needs
– October 24 – Called as Partners in Christ’s Service: Dedication Sunday
– October 31 – All Saints Day Celebration
I hope that you will make a commitment to join us for worship each week this month, either in-person or online. God has certainly called each of us as partners in Christ’s service, and we all have a role to play as we live out our faith together at Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church.
In Christ,
Rev. Cameron Smith
Hands of Christ
On Sunday, September 19, we celebrated our eighth year of participation in Hands of Christ (HOC). Since 2014 we have held six in-person distributions at YPPC and served 1,899 children. In-person distributions have stopped due to the Pandemic, but our church has continued to carry out the Mission of HOC. This year, in conjunction with the HOC Operations Team at Westminster Presbyterian, we will provide clothing, school supplies, and books to our twelve Partner Schools – ten in Berkeley County and two in Charleston County.
Thank you for your donation of hundreds of pencils, markers, scissors, rulers, comp books, crayons, spiral notebooks, erasers, glue sticks, and pens, plus the many financial donations. We can still use more books (new or gently-used) for children in Pre-K (3 & 4 year olds) – 8 th grade.
